Nvidia is teaming up with the Indonesian government and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to build a $200 million AI center in Surakarta, Central Java.

The center will focus on either telecom infrastructure or training human resources, starting construction in 2024.

Surakarta was chosen due to its skilled workforce and 5G infrastructure readiness.

Nvidia committed to training over 20,000 university students and lecturers in AI skills after signing a memorandum with Indonesia in January 2022.

The global AI market has nearly doubled from 2022 to 2023, reaching $241.80 billion.

Nvidia's move in Indonesia aligns with its broader efforts in Southeast Asia, following partnerships in Singapore and Singapore Institute of Technology for AI centers.
